Page Text Editor

The Page Text Editor in Presspage is where you create and manage the content of article and custom pages. The editor consists of two main areas:

  • Page Text Editor - Create and format the page content in the main column and side column.
  • Page details - Manage page settings and metadata, such as the featured image, tags, excerpt and SEO.

This article explains the available options in both areas.

Note: When you edit a page template, a banner at the top of the editor reminds you that you are editing a template. Changes apply to new pages created from that template.

Page Text Editor

When you create a blank article or custom page, the editor opens with the Title and a first textblock. These fields are required to create and publish a page.

The page title is pre-filled with the title entered in Page settings. You can still change it in the editor.

Main column and side column

The editor has two tabs at the top: Main column and Side column. Select a tab to view and edit the modules placed in that column.

  • Main column - Contains the main page content, such as the title, textblocks, summary and boilerplate.
  • Side column - Contains modules shown next to the main content, such as contact information, downloads, or the media kit button

Note: The side column is only visible on the published page when the page layout includes a side column.

Add modules

Select Add module at the bottom of the editor to add a module to the column you have open. Modules that can only be added once are marked Added when they are already on the page.

The available modules are:

  • Textblock - The main body text of the page. Textblock is the only module you can add multiple times.
  • Subtitle - A subtitle below the page title.
  • Summary - A short summary of the page.
  • Boilerplate - Standard company information, usually at the end of the page.
  • AI disclosure - A statement that AI was used to create the page content.
  • More > Multimedia - Add an Image Gallery or Video module.
  • More > Contact information - Add a contact module, such as Personal.

To change the order of modules, drag a module by its handle on the right, or use the Page Layout.

Textblock

Textblocks hold the main body text of a page. You can add several textblocks to place other modules, such as an image gallery, between sections of text.

Hover over a textblock to show these actions:

  • Insert inline image - Place an image at the top of the textblock, next to the text. Visitors can download these images or share them on social media.

Format text in modules

Most modules, except the Title and Subtitle, have a formatting toolbar. Use it to structure your text, improve readability and add inline media.

The available options are:

  • AI - Rewrite text, change the tone or translate it with generative AI.
  • Undo and redo - Undo or redo your latest changes.
  • Headings - Divide your content into clear sections. Subheadings also help search engines understand the page structure.
  • Bold, italic, underline and strikethrough - Emphasize key text.
  • Font color - Change the text color.
  • Subscript and superscript - Format text such as footnote references or chemical formulas.
  • Insert link - Link to other pages.
  • Insert anchor - Link to a specific location on the page.
  • Bulleted and numbered lists - Present information clearly.
  • Alignment - Align text left, center or right.
  • Remove formatting - Clear all formatting from the selected text.
  • Insert symbol - Add special characters.
  • Insert table - Add a table.
  • Insert image - Place an image inside the text. Select the image after adding it to change the alignment and size, set alternative text or add a link. Visitors cannot download or share these images on social media.
  • Source - Edit the HTML of the text. You can also embed videos by pasting the embed code from a video platform.

Summary

  • Add or remove title - Add a title to the summary. Select Show title in page to display it on the published page.

  • Mass edit - Update the boilerplate in all pages in the same language that use this module. This saves time and avoids repetitive edits.

Image Gallery and Video modules

Image Gallery and Video modules show images or videos from the Asset Manager directly in the page. Hover over the module to show these actions:

  • Show in side column - Move the module to the side column.
  • Edit - Open the module settings.
  • Delete - Remove the module.
  • Reorder - Drag the module to a new position.

Select Edit to open the module settings, such as the title, display mode and captions. Go to Image gallery and Videos for a full description of these settings.

Edit text with generative AI

Generative AI helps you write faster by rewriting content, adjusting the tone or translating text. You can review and edit the output before publishing, so you keep full control over the final page.

Enable AI in the Advanced account settings. Once enabled, AI is available in the formatting toolbar of the modules, in the Excerpt field and for the Meta title.

Page details

The Page details contain the page settings and metadata. These settings control how the page appears throughout the newsroom, in page previews and in search engine results.

Confidential and Restricted labels

Labels at the top of the Page details show the access status of the page:

  • Confidential - The page is confidential. Hover over the label to see the expiry date.
  • Restricted - Access to the page is restricted to selected users.

Featured image

The featured image is the main visual shown with the page preview in newsroom modules (such as the Carousel and Headlines modules), archive pages, search results and when the page is shared on social media.

headlines with featured image
  1. Select Add featured image and choose an image from the Asset Manager. You can also upload a new image from the Asset Manager.
  2. Hover over the image for additional actions:
    • Crop - Change how the featured image is cropped in the thumbnail.
    • Replace - Replace the current image with a new one.
    • Remove - Remove the image.
  3. Choose the featured image settings below the image.

The available settings are:

  • Display featured image on top of page - Show the featured image at the top of the page.
  • Use alternative banner image - Select a different image for the Banner, Carousel and Featured article modules. This is useful when a module uses a different image ratio and cropping the featured image does not give the right result. You can crop the current featured image or select a new image from the Asset Manager.

Tags

Newsroom tags categorize pages and support filtering in newsroom modules, navigation and archive pages.

adding tags
  • Tags - Add one or more tags to the page.

    Screenshot 2026-01-12 at 13.16.18.png
  • Create new tag - Create a new tag, when you have the right permissions.
  • Display tags on page - Show the selected tags on the published page.

Go to Newsroom Tags for more details.

Excerpt

The excerpt is the preview text shown in headline modules, feeds and other overview pages. It is not shown on the page itself. If you leave it empty, Presspage uses the Summary or the first text of the page.

The Excerpt field has its own formatting toolbar, including AI options to rewrite, change the tone or translate the excerpt.

SEO

The SEO settings control how the page appears in search engine results.

  • Meta title - The page title shown in search results, with a maximum of 70 characters. By default, this is the account name or page title. Select the AI icon in the field to suggest a meta title, change its tone of voice, rewrite it or translate it.
  • Meta description - The description shown below the title in search results, with a maximum of 160 characters. Make sure it clearly summarizes the page content.
  • Slug - The unique part of the page URL, based on the page title. You can edit it, but changing the slug after publishing is not recommended because existing links may break and search engine indexing can be affected.
  • Add extra slug - Add alternative URLs that redirect to the page (301 redirect). This keeps existing links working when you change the URL.

    slug

Go to Customize Meta information for SEO for more details.

Publish date and city

  • Display publish date - Show or hide the publish date on the page.
  • Publish city - Enter a location to show next to the publish date.
