00:00 Introduction Newsroom Homepage
Welcome! In this video, we'll show you an example setup for a Newsroom homepage, highlighting some of PressPage's core Newsroom modules.
Before we dive into the example, let’s briefly discuss the purpose of a homepage:
- It’s the entry point of your Newsroom, showcasing all available information.
- It should provide easy navigation within the Newsroom and back to your main website.
- It must ensure that all content is easy to find for visitors.
00:47 EarthBone Pet Food Newsroom and Newsroom Platform
Here, we have a newsroom for a fictional company called EarthBone Pet Food, set up in a PressPage demo environment.
Using the Newsroom platform, users can control the middle section of the newsroom pages — everything between the header and footer — to set up and maintain both the homepage and other pages.
The header and footer are part of the template and cannot be controlled by the modules. I’ll now walk you through the different elements visible on this homepage and link them to the modules you can use to set it up.
For more details on the modules, watch the additional videos or check our knowledge articles.
01:46 Title of the Newsroom and Breadcrumb Module
Let's start with the top section of the newsroom — the first part visitors see when the newsroom loads.
At the very top, you’ll see the title of the newsroom, which doubles as a Breadcrumb module. This allows visitors to easily navigate back to the homepage if they explore other areas of the newsroom.
01:59 Slider: Featured Article and Carousel Modules
Below the title, there’s a slider featuring the most recent or important articles.
You can include between one and ten articles here, using either the Featured Article or Carousel modules. Articles are shown in chronological order, but you can apply a filter by using a tag to control what appears in this section.
02:19 Search Module
Next is the Search module. While search can also be integrated into the header, highlighting it within the newsroom allows visitors to quickly start searching for relevant content.
02:31 Featured Topics Section: Buttons and Tag Cloud Modules
Another way to improve content discoverability is by adding a Featured Topics section.
This can be set up using either the Button or Tag Cloud modules. The buttons can link to areas where specific topics, like thought leadership pages, are highlighted.
02:50 Headlines Modules
Below the Featured Topics section, you’ll find two Headlines modules showing previews of articles: One module displays the latest news. The other shows blog posts.
By using the Headlines tagging structure and applying specific tags to modules and articles, the Newsroom platform can properly organize your content.
In the Latest News headlines, an additional layer of categorization is shown through visible tags, such as "Products" and "Company."
Each Headlines module is connected to an archive page, accessible via an "Archive" button. Visitors can explore all articles tagged similarly. Additionally, clicking on a visible tag also redirects them to a dedicated archive page.
03:49 Previews of Integrated Articles: RSS Feed and Coverage Modules
Below the headlines, you’ll see previews of three coverage articles — third-party media pieces about the company.
Clicking on any preview leads visitors to the source article.
This section can be set up via:
- An RSS Feed module, automatically integrating articles from one source.
- A Coverage module, allowing you to manually add articles for more control.
04:16 Contacts Form: Inquiries and Form Modules
The homepage can also offer ways for stakeholders to get in touch with your company or your corporate communications team.
First, you’ll see a form where visitors can submit their details and a question or request. This can be set up using:
- The Inquiries module, connected to our Inquiries app. Submissions are added to the Inquiries platform and notifications are sent to users, centralizing inquiry management.
- Alternatively, the Form module allows you to create different types of forms. Submissions are emailed directly to an inbox of your choosing.
04:59 Subscriptions Module
There’s also a Subscriptions module, where visitors can subscribe to one or more contact lists.
Submissions here are added to PressPage Contacts, allowing you to send email campaigns through PressPage Email — centralizing content distribution. Alternatively, the list of subscribers can be exported for your own use.
After a visitor submits their email, they will receive a confirmation email.
05:35 Personal Contact and General Contact Information Modules
Finally, you can add Personal Contact and General Contact Information modules, ensuring visitors have clear, easy ways to reach out directly to the right people.
