The "Headlines" module is the central organization functionality for articles and how they appear on the main Newsroom homepage, custom pages, or article pages. It allows the user to break up the Newsroom front page in a visually interesting way, and group similar articles together. You can use it for a "related news" section as well.
This article will explain how to create headline sections, and assign them tags that will correspond to articles to publish them in the correct section.
Table of contents:
Adding a Headlines Module
- In the sidebar, click on 'Miscellaneous', and then click the “Headlines” module.
- To create a Headline, click the green “Add Module” button.
- Enter the title of the Headline as it will appear on the Newsroom. This can also be left blank.
-
Add a tag that corresponds to one or more articles. Any article that has a matching tag will automatically appear under that Headline’s section on the Newsroom. Check the option 'Show tags in Newsroom' to make the tags added to the articles visible in the headlines module.
Note:
If no article has been published with a matching tag, the headline will be automatically hidden on the Newsroom. The headline will be visible once an article is published with a matching tag.
-
Choose a layout style for the Headlines module.
- Repeat these steps to add more Headlines sections.
Headlines and their corresponding tagged articles will now be visible on the Newsroom.
The 'exclude tags' field can be used to define a tag that, when added to an article, will not be shown in the Headlines module.
Removing a Headlines module
To remove a Headline module, click the "X" button in the top right corner of the headline to be removed.
A confirmation window will appear. Click the "Yes, delete" button to confirm the headline to be deleted.
The headline will disappear. Note: all articles with the corresponding tag to that headline will no longer appear on the newsroom unless tagged to correspond to an existing headline.
