Why isn't my asset appearing in the Media Library?

If an asset is in the Presspage Asset Manager but doesn't show in the Media Library on your Newsroom, the cause is usually one of five settings. This article explains what to check.

Check these five settings

  • Publish state - If you uploaded the asset through a Newsroom module on a page, it only appears in the Media Library after that page is published. Publish the page, or open the asset and select Force publish to show it in the Media Library before the page goes live.
  • Exclude from Media Library - Open the asset in the Asset Manager. If the status label at the top of the page reads Not visible in Media Library, clear the Exclude from Media Library checkbox and select Save. To fix several assets at once, select them in list view, then select More actions > Include in Media Library.
  • Account setting for new uploads - If new assets keep being excluded, go to Settings > Account settings > Advanced and check Exclude Media Assets from Media Library under Other settings. When this setting is on, newly uploaded assets don't appear in the Media Library until you include them. See Advanced account settings.
  • Category - Each Media Library section shows assets by category. If the asset has no category, or not the one that section uses, it won't appear there. Add the correct category in the Categories field and select Save. See Media Library for how categories and sections work.
  • Language access - The Media Library only shows an asset in the languages it's available in. On the asset detail page, check Language access and add any missing language. See Managing media assets in multiple languages.

For more about these settings, see Media Asset Manager.
