00:00 Introduction to Custom Pages
In this video, I’ll introduce you to custom pages. I’ll highlight common use cases and explain which newsroom modules you can use to set up a custom page.
00:13 Custom Pages Specifications
Besides creating article pages, you can also create custom pages. These are intended for content that isn't time-sensitive — for example, information about your company, your leadership team, a contact page, or any other content that helps inform your visitors.
Unlike an article page, a custom page does not include a publication date by default. It also won't appear as a preview in modules like the carousel, featured article, or headlines. Additionally, custom pages won't show up in the archive pages.
Instead, you need to create a button or a link that directs to the custom page. This can be done through your header, a menu, or using a button module.
01:07 Use Case 1 - Evergreen Content
Here are some common use cases for custom pages implemented in newsrooms.
The first use case is highlighting evergreen content — content that remains relevant over time. The structure of an evergreen page is similar to that of an article page. You can include elements like text, images, videos, and contact information, but the key difference is that the content remains valuable over a longer period.
For example, a biography page is a great example of evergreen content.
01:37 Use Case 2 - Directory Page
The second use case is setting up a directory page. A custom page can be used to create a collection of links or buttons that navigate visitors to other newsrooms, pages within the same newsroom, or external websites.
An example of this would be a product lineup page, where each product links to more detailed information.
02:02 Use Case 3 - Theme Page
The third use case is creating a theme page. A theme page focuses on a specific topic or theme within your newsroom and includes only articles related to that subject.
You can enhance the page by adding a featured article or a carousel module at the top to showcase the most recent or important articles. Additionally, you can include a headlines module to list other articles and enrich the page with supporting information like contact details, multimedia, or even a subscribe module so visitors can sign up for updates on that specific topic.
A good example of a theme page would be an Investor Relations news page.
