In some cases, a contact may exist in both Contacts and Media Database lists. This might affect the usage of the contact for the user. This article explains how a 'shared' Contact behaves in specific situations.
Overview of Contacts and Media Database
The platform includes two sections for managing contacts:
- Contacts contains all uploaded and subscribed contacts managed within the platform
- Media Database provides access to journalists from the AgilityPR global media database
Editing contact details
When a contact exists in both section, the email address cannot be edited in either location. To update the contact, remove the contact from Media Database lists.

Unsubscribe behavior
Unsubscribe actions apply across both contact types. If a contact exists in both sections and unsubscribes, they are removed from both Contacts can also unsubscribe directly through AgilityPR. When this happens, they are removed from Media Database and related lists after synchronization.
Sending campaigns
When sending campaigns to contacts that exist in both sections. The platform prioritizes the contact from your own contact list The recipient will only receive the email once.
