Restructuring vs. redesigning your newsroom
When you would like to make changes to your newsroom, it's important to distinguish between a restructure and a redesign:
- Restructure: This involves rearranging the existing modules on relevant pages to create a new layout.
- Redesign: A redesign focuses on altering the design of the newsroom. This can be done for the whole newsroom or for specific modules, the header & footer, fonts and/or design elements
You can also combine restructuring and redesign to achieve your desired outcome.
How to restructure your newsroom
With the modules available in the platform, you can set up your newsroom however you like. The platform offers over 40 modules to choose from. To help you get started:
- Get an understanding of what you need to change and what you want to achieve with the restructuring.
- Restructuring isn't just about modifying the layout of the newsroom homepage. Here are some ways to enhance your newsroom:
- Categorize content into different types or topics.
- Create dedicated content or topic pages to provide additional background information.
- Create more pathways to and from the newsroom and your main company website.
- Create more pathways for visitors to navigate from one area of the newsroom to another.
- Optimize the newsroom’s SEO.

How changes are made for redesigns
The Newsroom is created with the platform’s modules, styled to the look & feel of your corporate branding. When you submit a redesign request, our development team will make the necessary adjustments to this template.
Steps to prepare for your redesign request
To ensure a smooth process, here are steps to prepare your newsroom redesign or change request:
1. Review the modules and/or style elements: make a list of the items in your current newsroom that need updating. Share screenshots for reference.
2. Add visuals: add details of how you want each element to look. Share screenshots and links of live websites or sample pages for reference.
3. Involve stakeholders:
- Engage your web design team or other relevant stakeholders in the process.
- If involving them is not possible, ensure that your request has been reviewed internally before we start the redesign project.
- Providing a sample page with all desired elements will accelerate the process.
4. We can only accept design files (for example Figma) from our Enterprise Plan customers.
5. We can only modify modules within their current functionality. If you wish to request functional updates to a module or suggest new ones, we can submit a feature request for our Product team to review.
The review and quote process
Once you submit your request, our team will review it to ensure all necessary details are included. The review process may take up to a week. If we have any questions, we'll reach out for clarification. After reaching a mutual agreement on the request, we will provide a cost estimate. The project can be planned when the quote is approved and signed.
The redesign process
Based on whether you want to redesign the existing modules or restructure the newsroom, we will provide you with either a rebrand link or rebrand account. An Implementation Specialist will ensure your requirements are translated into a development ticket. Our development team works in bi-weekly sprints, and we’ll schedule the work as soon as possible according to the planning. Depending on the agreement, you will have at least one feedback round to ensure the new design aligns with your needs. Once finalized, the Implementation Specialist will coordinate a go-live date with you to launch the changes.
