This article explains what to consider before migrating your existing content into a Presspage Newsroom, including the limitations of the migration service.
Presspage offers a Newsroom migration service to onboarding customers, but there are some limitations to what this process includes. Your Implementation Manager will work with you to identify which types of content matter most and how to approach the migration.

Multiple languages
If your account has more than one language, articles migrated to Presspage via an RSS feed won't be connected with a language picker. For example, articles in a German-language feed won't be linked to their French equivalents.
If a language picker is essential, you'll need to migrate the articles manually. As a workaround, you can use a Button Module to manually link translations of each article to each other.
Images
Images can only be imported in two ways: inline in the content section of the feed, or as media items in a Media Group.
For images in a Media Group, Presspage inserts them in an Image Module between the title and the content. You may want to adjust this placement after migration. Custom functionality such as carousels, lightboxes, multiple image dimensions, or captions doesn't carry over.
Alt text and titles
If inline images have alt text or title attributes, these carry over to Presspage, but won't be visible in the Asset Manager.
Images in Media Groups can include a title and description in the RSS feed. These are included in the Asset Manager, and the title is used as alt text. It isn't possible to migrate a separate, different alt text.
Related content
Elements such as "related content" can't be migrated. If your content is tagged, you can manually add a Headlines Module later.
Contact modules
Contact Modules can't be migrated. You can add these manually after migration.
Meta description tags
Meta description tags aren't migrated. Presspage auto-generates these based on the first 160 characters of the body text. You can override this by manually adding a custom meta description tag in the SEO Options.
Special characters in filenames
Special characters, such as é or ä, in filenames or media:group elements may cause encoding issues. Where possible, remove these characters or replace them with an equivalent without accents, for example "Universitaet" instead of "Universität" in German.
Scope of the migration service
Migration is a one-off service and only supports valid RSS feeds. Additional migrations are available on request at an additional cost.
Redirects
In most cases, Presspage can't set up redirects from your old environment to the new one. Presspage can, however, provide an overview of the migrated articles in chronological order, so your IT team can set up redirects.
