This is the Quick Guide for creating a Live News Module.
Setting up the Live News module
A Live News module can be added to a Newsroom homepage or any article or Custom Page. To activate Live News, go to the sidebar Modules and select ‘Live News’
Click ‘Add Module’ in the top right corner.
Topics
When creating a Live News module, you can start by creating a new topic. The topic can be added to any article, allowing you to show the same Live News module on multiple locations. Editing the contents of a topic will updates the messages in all locations.
- Select ‘New Topic’
- Enter a Topic title
- Once the Topic is created, you will be directed to begin your first ‘Message’
Adding Messages
A Live News module is made up of a series of Messages. As messages are published to the Live News Module, they are added to the top of the Live News module on your article.
Add a basic message
- Click the ‘Add Message’ button
- Enter a title and select whether the title should be visible on the page.
- Add the text of the Message.
- Click the ‘Save’ button
Your Message will now be added to the Timeline of your Live News Module.
Add a message with a featured image
- Click the ‘Add Message’ button
- Enter your message title and text
- Click ‘Add Featured Image’ under the message text box, which opens the Asset Manager
- Upload a new image, or select an existing image
- Click the ‘Save’ button
Your Message with a Featured Image will now be added to the Timeline of your Live News Module.
Pin a message to the top of your Live News module
Messages in the Live News module are added in chronological order. However, you may choose to ‘pin’ up to 5 messages to the top of your module.
- Click the ‘Add Message’ button
- Enter your message title and text
- Select the ‘Pin message to top’ checkbox
- Click the ‘save’ button
The message will now appear under the ‘Pinned’ section of your Live News module.
Add a Link to a Message
Messages in the Live News module can be linked to an internal article or an external URL.
- Click the ‘Add Message’ button
- Enter your message title and text
- Select the ‘Link’ checkbox
- Add the title of the Link (the anchor text)
- Choose an internal article from the dropdown, or select an external link and paste your URL
- Click the ‘save button’
The message will now show with a link to the internal or external URL.
