Downloads

This article explains how to add a Downloads module to the Homepage or a Page in your Newsroom. The Downloads module allows you to group all downloadable files in one clear and accessible location. It is commonly used for press kits, printable versions of articles, reports, presentations, and supporting documents.

Downloads supported file types

The Downloads module supports a wide range of file formats.

  • Documents: pdf, odt, rtf, doc, docx
  • Presentations: odp, ppt, pptx
  • Spreadsheets: xls, xlsx
  • Archive files: zip, rar
  • Calendar invites: ics
  • Audio files: wma, wav, flv
  • Video files: avi, mpg, mpeg, wmv, mov, qt

For .mp4 videos, use Videos instead.

Adding the Downloads module

You can add the Downloads module to the Homepage or to a specific Page.

  1. Go to the Newsroom dropdown and select Homepage, or go to Pages and select the Page you want to edit.

  2. In the sidebar, open the Multimedia tab under Modules and select Downloads.

  3. Toggle the module from OFF to ON.

  4. Click Select asset(s) to open the Asset Manager.

  5. In the Asset manager select the documents to add to the Downloads module or add new files by selecting Upload items.
  6. Click Select to save the selected files to the Downloads module.

Uploading documents into the Asset Manager

After selecting Upload items in the Asset manager you are given two options to upload new files.

  • Upload a file hosted externally.
    1. Select Upload via URL in the Asset Manager. Enter the direct file URL in the field and click Upload via URL.

  • Upload a file from your computer.
    1. Select Upload Items in the Asset Manager. 
    2. Choose the file or multiple files and click Save.

After uploading, the files appear in the Asset Manager. 

Managing files in the Downloads module

Selected files appear in the Downloads module settings.

  • To change the order, use the directional icon to drag and reposition files.
  • To remove a file, click the X icon next to the file.

Click Save to apply your changes. The Downloads module will now be visible on the Homepage or Page
