1. Scope

This statement applies to the Presspage platform, including the newsroom product and the content management tools used to operate it. Presspage is committed to making its platform accessible to all users, including those who rely on assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other adaptive tools.

2. Our commitment

Accessibility is not a checkbox for us — it is an ongoing programme. We are currently conducting a structured internal evaluation of the Presspage platform against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, with the goal of achieving full WCAG 2.2 Level AA compliance. This work includes:

  • Manual keyboard navigation testing across all core platform flows
  • Screen reader testing using NVDA and VoiceOver
  • Automated scanning using browser-based accessibility tools
  • Review and update of legacy platform components
  • Development of accessibility guidance for clients

Our current evaluation covers approximately 73% of planned checks. Of the areas tested so far, the platform performs well in keyboard navigation, focus management, media support foundations, zoom and reflow, and core component behaviour. Remaining tests are focused on screen reader compatibility and form error handling.

3. Compliance status

Presspage is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and our target is full compliance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The platform meets most requirements, but some known gaps exist. These are documented in full in section 4. We are actively working to close all identified gaps, with critical issues in active remediation and others scoped into the product roadmap.

4. Known accessibility gaps

The following gaps have been identified through our internal evaluation. Each has a documented status and plan.

6. Shared responsibility

Presspage is a SaaS platform. The accessibility of a published newsroom depends on both the platform and the choices made by the client. The following areas are the client's responsibility:

Presspage is responsible for

  • Keyboard accessibility and focus management across all platform components
  • Screen reader compatibility for platform-generated HTML and components
  • Providing alt text fields, caption support and other accessibility tools
  • Maintaining accessible defaults in the design system

Clients are responsible for

  • Writing meaningful alt text for all non-decorative images
  • Adding captions and transcripts to video and audio content
  • Ensuring brand colours maintain sufficient contrast (minimum 4.5:1 for text)
  • Using clear headings and meaningful link text in editorial content
  • Ensuring uploaded documents are accessible
