On July 1st, 2023, standard Google Universal Analytics (UA) properties will stop processing data.
This means that if you still have UA tracking codes within your newsroom, you need to take action. These codes have the following format UA-1234567-1 (they start with UA), so they should be easy to recognize.
Once you have obtained a GA4 property from your marketing team, you can make the switch.
There are multiple scenarios possible:
- The UA tracking code is in a Google Analytics module. In that case you can replace the tag yourself. The Presspage Google Analytics module supports GA4.
- The second option is that the UA tracking code has been hardcoded in your newsroom template. Please reach out to our Support team with the new GA4 tracking script to have the code replaced.
- It's also possible that the UA tracking code is included in a template article. Our Customer Success team will reach out to these customers and work with them to replace the code.
In other words, the tracking code can be added in the Google Analytics module on Newsroom level, within an article itself, on a custom page or in a template article. Make sure that you replace the UA tracking codes on all the pages you want to see in your Analytics.
Our Support team is available to answer your questions on making the switch to GA4.
