The Live News module can be used to add a regularly updated developing story to your Newsroom or article. Example of these types of stories are COVID-19 updates, an ongoing crisis situation, weather-related updates, disasters and other events where you want to inform people in real-time and publish the latest news updates as they happen.
To add a Live News module, go into your Newsroom and click 'Live News' in the sidebar to the left.
If this is your first Live News module, you'll see the option to add a new module. Click 'Add module' in the top right corner.
Then, choose a topic, such as 'covid-19', or 'plane crash' or 'elections'. This helps keep your live news modules organised, especially if you have more than one live news module about the same topic.
If you want to create a new topic click 'New Topic' and enter the appropriate field. Click 'Save' to save your changes.
After creating your topic, you'll be taken to the Live News module editor:
This works similar to the regular article editor. You can add a title, add a message and format it, and add a date and time.
The link option at the bottom lets you link to an internal or external URL. You can use this feature to explain a part of the ongoing story in greater detail in a separate newsroom article, or to link to a government website, or to a contact page. The possibilities are limitless.
Once you're done editing your initial message, click 'Save' to publish it to the Newsroom. Similarly, you can also add this module to an individual article, in both the sidebar and the main column.
In the Presspage Manager itself, you'll see the live news module, grouped below your chosen topic.
The first message of your Live News module is now live, and you should be ready to post updates as they happen.
