Things to consider before and after launching your Newsroom
Transitioning and maintaining existing URL
When you already have an existing Newsroom or news section on your website and you want to transfer that URL, you can still follow the integration instructions depending on the chosen method.
If you want to make sure that the old URLs of your content still link to the new articles, you can make use of our Data migration service. When your content is imported via our service, all the imported articles will include the original URL which will then link back to the new location via 301 redirects, provided the same domain is being used.
Soft launch
We recommend doing a 'soft launch' before announcing your Newsroom launch to the world. This enables you to see the Newsroom exactly as it will appear online. Take this time to make sure everything looks as intended, and inform your Customer Success Manager if it doesn't. If you're going with a subfolder integration, it's recommended to have a good look at modules such as the headlines module to see if they work as intended.
It's possible to set a 'noindex' meta tag for the Newsroom to prevent search engines from indexing it until you're sure that the Newsroom is ready to go live. Of course, don't forget to uncheck this meta tag after the proper launch!
Finally, consider adding some fresh content to the Newsroom, especially if there has been a bit of time between the content migration and the actual launch date.
Replacing URLs on the website
Before launch, make sure that any links to the previous newsroom, if applicable, have been replaced by links to the new newsroom. If you're using any feeds that pull content from the newsroom, make sure those work as well.
