This article will describe several tips and tricks for working with the Asset Manager when your account is set up with multiple languages.
- For users with Admin and Manager roles that have access to multiple languages, when uploading media assets, these will automatically appear in all the languages they have access to.
In the Asset Manager options (the gear icon in the last column), you can deselect any language, so the asset does not appear anymore for that language. See screenshots below.
When working with multiple teams in your account, please be aware of this to prevent adding duplicate assets into the manager. Set up clear internal processes to guide the process.
- Images will get the title of the original file uploaded, regardless of the language. You can make changes to the titles and descriptions of the assets in a language without it affecting the other languages.
- Use the 'Mass Edit' option in the top row of the Asset Manager to copy over the title and description to all languages.
- When you use the ‘Add translation’ option for an article, assets that are already present in both languages in the Asset Manager will not be copied over. If an asset is not present in the translation language, the system will add it to that language in the Asset Manager.
- The Image Module offers the option to copy over images from article language A to article language B.
Again, if the assets are available in language B in the Asset Manager it will not be copied over. If not, they will be added automatically. See How to mass copy images to another language for a detailed explanation.
